The key to you answering multiple-choice questions on your CMP exam is understanding how the questions are written. First, you need to know how the question writer came up with the incorrect answers. Then you can begin to find the correct answer. Thankfully, you can learn test-taking tips that can help detect what is correct and what isn’t. Let’s start with Synonyms and Antonyms.

Kind is a synonym for nice.
Happy is a synonym for glad.
Quick is a synonym for fast.

You can remember the definition of “synonym” easily because it means “same.”

Which of the following is the BEST synonym for “loud”?
A) modulate
B) forte
C) dynamic
D) pianissimo

If you chose forte, then you are correct! Good job!

There can be only one correct answer to a question on the CMP exam. Therefore, if you have two choices that mean the same thing, you can eliminate both of those options. Neither can be correct if they are synonyms.
